Some bands ripen over the years like a high-grade
wine.
They improve in character, develop unexpected
profundity and get well balanced.
The Australian wave rock legend IKON (founded in 1991)
is doubtless one of those bands. The personal commitment of musical visionary
Chris McCarter (vocals, guitar) who kept the band’s course also in troubled
waters guarantees a high level of quality. Together with Dino Molinaro (bass)
he establishes the creative nucleus of a band that enjoys the support of a
loyal following.
The extraordinary album “Destroying The World To Save
It” and their single “Rome” were followed by a period of silence but regarding
the most successful Australian gothic export item their fans were right to take
this as a hint for hidden business.
In fact IKON surprises with a number of releases
accompanying their European tour in May 2007.
“The Burden of History” dares – as the title says - a retrospective on the eventful history of the band. This two-CD-box contains 16 single tracks and as many B-sides which allow a fascinating first look upon the phenomenon IKON.
